If so... read on!
I've been facilitating a writing group since last May. The member base has dwindled due to people getting distracted or who are otherwise too busy.
What I want is to have a large enough member base so that approximately 8 people will come to every meeting. So, that means I need to gather new members!
Here is the community link...
If you are interested, send an email to friscoplanowriters at yahoo.com. Include some sort of writing sample-- just a couple of pages, please, so I can determine what type of writing you do and your skill level. And, let me know if you'd be interested in meeting every other Saturday for ongoing meetings. We usually meet at 1pm.
What I'm looking for is... people who would really be committed. I've had some problems with people not committing in the past and it gets really frustrating when I plan out a meeting and no one shows!
What sort of things do we do? Well we definitely exchange each other's writings for critique. If someone needs a piece critiqued right away, we'll do it on the spot... but I prefer to let people mull over pieces, and critique them away from the group. That way I think the writer gets more individualized critique and has a better chance of getting different ideas about his/her writings.
We also usually do some sort of writing exercise. Not your regular type of writing exercises, let me assure you! These tend to not be boring! Ha ha...
I incorporate music nearly every time. I've been told that it's a "touchy feely" kind of setting/feeling. Oh, and the meetings are at my home in Frisco.
So... if this sounds like something you'd be interested in, please send an email to friscoplanowriters at yahoo.com!
